IELTSで副詞・形容詞を使いこなせ!

 

IELTSのライティングではもちろん、スピーキングでも、形容詞、副詞を使いこなすことで高得点を目指せます。

 

ライティングでは文章をよりアカデミックに変化させることができ、スピーキングでは副詞や形容詞を入れるだけでガラッと印象が変わり、ネイティブスピーカーのような話し方に近づけることができます。

 

ここでは、IELTSアカデミックのタスク1やタスク2のエッセイなどで使用することができる形容詞、副詞のほか、IELTSジェネラルのタスク1の手紙の形式にも便利な副詞や形容詞をとりあげます。

 

形容詞と副詞の役割 とは?

 

まずここで1つ質問です。副詞と形容詞の役割と何でしょうか。形容詞もしくは副詞はさらに詳しい情報を付け加える役割を果たします。

 

では、どうして副詞と形容詞がライティングでは重要なのでしょうか。

 

それは語彙力を駆使してよりアカデミックなライティングに近づけることができるからだけでなく、傾向などを細かに詳細に記載することができるからです。ジェネラルのタスク1の手紙形式の問題でも、自分の感情や気持ちのニュアンスや度合いをうまく伝えることができるようになります。

 

ライティングのスコアをあげるためには、このように的確に物事を描写し、表現力を高める副詞、形容詞を使うことが求められるのです。

 

またスピーキングでは、物事の程度や自分の言いたいことを強調したりすることができるので、インパクトのある表現に変えることができるでしょう。

IELTS ライティングのタスク1での使用例

 

タスク1のライティングでは副詞や形容詞を用いて度合いを描写するのに大事な役割を果たします。

 

度合いを表すのに必須の副詞と形容詞ですが、動詞とセットで覚えていくとよいでしょう。

 

副詞の slightly(わずかに)・significantly(大幅に)


例文】

1)The monthly income slightly increased to $3000.

2)The visitor number significantly increased to 35,000.

 

このように動詞の"increase" もしくは”decrease"と組み合わせて使用します。

「increase」 の同義語である、「rise」,「climb」,「grow」とも重ねて使用できます。

「decrease」の同義語である、「decline」,「fall」,「drop」,「reduce」 でも使えることを併せて覚えておきましょう。

 

 

急激な変化を表す場合

またはジェネラルのタスク1の手紙にも使える表現

 

IELTSのタスク2のアカデミックエッセイだけでなく、ジェネラルの手紙やエッセイなどで使用できる副詞と形容詞+名詞もしくは形容詞と名詞のコンビネーションの一例をあげます。

ジェネラルでは感情的な表現の度合いを表すのに、エッセイでは物事の程度を表すのにとても役に立ちます。

よく使われる副詞と形容詞の組み合わせ形容詞と名詞の組み合わせの使用例も一緒に覚えておくとよいでしょう。

こちらは形容詞+名詞の組み合わせの一例をあげます。

程度を表す形容詞と名詞の組み合わせは正しく使用しないと、不自然な表現となってしまいますので気を付けましょう。

物事の様子や程度、感情やニュアンスの違いなどを微妙にかつ明確に表現する時に、とても便利な形容詞と副詞。
スピーキング、ライティングで最速にレベルアップできる方法の1つです。
