問題文のキーワードと情報を本文から素早く見つける力を身に付ける
IELTSのジェネラルモジュールにおけるリーディングのセクション1と2は、先に本文を読まなくても解けます。（ただし段落マッチング問題に限り、本文のAの段落を先に読んでその内容が書いてある選択肢を選びます）
また、設問は上から順番に並んでいることが多いので、例えば最初の質問は本文の最初の部分から、そして次の質問はそれ以降から探し出す、ということができます。
この情報を踏まえた上で、問題文のキーワードをおさえてその内容が書き換えられている所を素早く探すようにしましょう。セクション1, 2には時間をかけず、一番難しいセクション3に時間を掛けられるようにします。
まずは問題文をしっかりと読み取り、そのキーワードを本文から探すことが重要となります。このスキルはアカデミックでも共通して言えますが、本文を読まずに解答していくジェネラルリーディングのセクション1と2では必須となります。

IELTSリーディング問題形式別の解き方
【問題形式1】True / False / Not given
Students can begin the one-year course without any previous involvement in acting.
条件が書かれている場合は、それがキーワードになることが多いので必ずチェックしましょう。
ここでは「1年の学習経験なしに」という条件が付けられています。
本文：This is an intensive course which is designed for those who have completed their academic studies.
本文では「学業を終えた」の箇所が、問題では「学習経験がないといけない」と間違ったことが言われています。ですからこの解答は False。

【問題形式2】穴埋め問題
For this, send your ( ) details and current vehicle inspection documents.
この問題文で大事なのは、解答の前後の表現は他の言い方に書き換えられている可能性がありますが、いくつかの単語は本文でもそのまま使われている可能性も非常に高いということです。
特に上記のように何かが “and” で並列している場合は、質問で聞かれていない方の、”current vehicle inspection documents” のことが本文中のどこに書いてあるか探します。
そしてそれに並列したもの（and で繋がっているもの）が、答えになります。
本文：When using this you need to provide information about your shipment, and you also need to send proof of a current annual inspection for our vehicle, tractor and trailer.
ここで “current”, “inspection” と “vehicle” はそのまま本文でも使われています。”document” が本文では “proof” となっています。
では、それに並列したものは何でしょうか。それは、”information about shipment” です。
ということは “information” が本文では “details” に書き換えられており、”and” の前後の語順も変えられています。
答えは “shipment” となります。内容は一致していますね。
【問題形式3】穴埋め問題
Help with issues related to disabilities, e.g. provision of a suitable ( ).
“e.g.” は「例えば」という意味なので、”provision of a suitable ( )” として何かが詳しく説明されていると考えてください。
disabilities, help はそのまま使われていましたが、 provision と suitable が書き換えられていました。
本文：In these cases the employer (employees who are disabled) should consider what reasonable adjustments could be made in the workplace to help the employee. This might be something as simple as supplying an appropriate chair for the use of the employee.
ここで “suitable” が “reasonable” に書き換えられていると勘違いしないように（解答は単数）。すると、”provision” = “supplying”, “appropriate” = “suitable” と言えるので、答えは単数の “chair”です。
【問題形式4】マッチング問題
本文と内容が同じ英文をマッチングさせる問題です。
本文：
THE BEST SUITCASES
Briggs and Riley Weekender
A weekend suitcase that’s sophisticated and unusually spacious for its type. The strong nylon outer fabric is water and abrasion resistant, so it should handle any knocks without showing signs of damage.
本文で大切なのは、このスーツケースが誰向けに売られているものなのかと言うことです。
“weekend / sophisticated/spacious/ strong nylon outer fabric/ water and abrasion resistant/ without showing signs of damage.”
と、特徴がたくさん記載されているので、この特徴にあったものを質問の選択肢から選びます。
選択肢：
1. This suitcase is for those who wish to purchase expensive luggage.
2. This suitcase is the right one for people who like to follow the latest fashion.
3. It is easy to choose one of these suitcases to match most clothing.
4. The manufacturer is confident that this suitcase will last a long time.
5. Items in this suitcase will not be affected if it gets wet.
6. This suitcase is of a useful, medium size.
7. Those who want to be reminded of an earlier age of travel will like this suitcase.
ここで特徴が言い換えられているのは、5 の “water resistant” です。
！注！
4番の “suitcase will last a long time” と、本文最後の “it should handle any knocks without showing signs of damage”を混同しないように。「長く持つことができる」のと、『損傷のサインがなく、振動に強い』（「振動に強い」➡長く持つ！などと、自分の考えは絶対に入れないこと）のとは同じことではありません。
IELTS リーディングでは、まず問題文上でキーワードを探し、
その部分と同じ単語がいくつか使われている所を本文中で見つける
その前後で書き換えられている単語（普通名詞）が解答となる可能性が高い
